Welcome to the website of Dissonant

Dissonant is a Dutch choir for lesbian and bi-sexual women of every age. We are very proud to celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2011.

Currently we are a choir of 22 and are keen to increase our membership.

We sing a wide variety of musical styles including classical medieval songs, world music from various periods, folk, but also pop and jazz. We sing close harmony in 3 or 4 voices. In general we sing A Cappella but sometimes we choose to be accompanied by a musical instrument such as the piano, harp or percussion.

We rehearse every Wednesday evening from 20.00 to 22.00 at the Amstelveense weg 308 / corner of Afroditekade, this is in the Cordaan dienstencentrum (community centre).

Dissonant strives to find a balance between quality singing and a good atmosphere in the group. Although we work hard during rehearsals, we laugh a lot, and generally go to the café afterwards to socialize together.
